The Additional step of the budget editor holds the lines that sit on top of the budget lines: overhead, handling, production fee, contingency, insurance, and discounts.
Amounts and percentages
An additional cost line can be a fixed amount or a percentage. Percentages are calculated over the running subtotal, so the order of the lines matters: a production fee over the subtotal, then a discount over the result.
Mark a line as Adjusted to make it the new base for the percentage lines below it. This is how you build "fee over subtotal, then contingency over subtotal including fee".
Lines can also be per episode or per minute when the budget has episodes or a running time.
Budget and Sales
Like ordinary lines, an additional cost has a budget side and a sales side. A production fee, for example, usually has no cost but does have a sales price.
With or without a cost type
Give an additional cost line a cost type and it counts as budget in the forecast and the cost report. Without a cost type it stays out of the budget and only shows on the quotation. The line says so: "no cost type, not in budget".
Switching additional costs off for a project
A project setting decides whether additional cost lines count at all. When enabled, budget totals, the publication screen and the forecast include them. When disabled, they are left out of totals, publications and the forecast.
VAT
Below the additional costs Tubes shows the subtotal excluding VAT, the VAT and the total including VAT, based on the VAT rules of your account.
