See what changed between two budget versions
Load two versions of a production budget and get the differences per line, per section and in total. Choose a file or paste the cells straight from Excel or Google Sheets.
Everything runs in your browser. This page has no upload endpoint and the browser is instructed to block outgoing connections, so your figures cannot leave your device.
Stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is sent, nothing is stored on our side. Only your column choices are remembered on this device. Want proof? Open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab while you use the tool: it stays empty.
Load your two versions
Any layout works as long as each budget line has a description and an amount. Section headings, subtotal rows and Movie Magic exports are recognised automatically.

Versions and scenarios, compared in one click
Every budget in Tubes is versioned. Drafts, quotations and the approved baseline sit side by side, and the Compare view shows the differences between any two versions or scenarios before you commit a decision.
No exports, no column mapping, no wondering which file is the latest. The same account structure carries through to cost control and the cost report, so the comparison you make in development is still valid in week seven of the shoot.
Questions about this tool
Is my budget uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read by your browser and never leaves your device. The page has no upload endpoint, and the server sends a Content-Security-Policy that instructs the browser to block every outgoing connection from this page. You can verify that in the Network tab of your browser's developer tools.
Which files can I use?
CSV, TSV and Excel (.xlsx) files, or cells pasted directly from Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. Older .xls files are not supported: save them as .xlsx or CSV first, or simply copy and paste the cells.
How are the lines matched?
On the account code when both versions have one. Without codes, lines are matched on their description. If a code is used more than once in a sheet, code and description are combined. Lines that only appear in one version are shown as new or removed.
What happens with subtotal and total rows?
Rows whose description starts with total, subtotal or grand total are skipped so nothing counts twice. Rows with text but no amount are treated as section headings. Both behaviours can be switched off per version.
Can I keep the comparison?
Download it as CSV, or print the page and save it as PDF. Both are generated in your browser. Nothing is kept on this page after you close it.
Tired of comparing spreadsheets by hand?
Tubes keeps every budget version, and the cost report shows what actually happened against the one that was approved.
